Superbites competes in prestigious industry awards
Crossmaglen’s hugely popular fish and chip shop, Superbites, is one of three takeaways in Northern Ireland competing in the prestigious National Fish & Chip Awards 2016, organised by seafood authority Seafish.
Superbites joins the Dolphin Takeaway in Dungannon, Co Tyrone, and The Friary in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim, in the competition, with the regional winner then competing for the UK title.
The renowned local takeaway will now be subjected to further judging as they receive mystery shopper visits by experts.
Already boasting an impressive list of credentials, Superbites is no stranger to awards and climbed the ranks to make the top 3 in the National Fish & Chip Awards in 2013. The unbeatable chip shop has also consistently maintained its 5 star hygiene rating, bestowed by Newry and Mourne District Council’s Environmental Health Department, for the last 6 years.
Seafish chief executive Paul Williams said the aim of the awards is to showcase the very best fish and chip businesses in the UK “while setting incredibly high standards for the industry to aspire to.”
"The Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award is one of the highest honours to receive as a fish and chip business,” he added.
"Many of our past winners and finalists have gone on to reap substantial benefits, including international fame through industry trips overseas, increased shop footfall and turnover and even launching their own products."
